Source Water Protection – New Municipal Well for Winchester

The Raisin–South Nation Source Protection Region is providing notice of consultation under Section 34 of the Clean Water Act, 2006 related to the new municipal drinking water well that will supply the community of Winchester.

As part of the source water protection process, drinking water vulnerable areas have been updated to reflect the location and characteristics of the new well. These changes may affect properties and activities within the revised vulnerable areas.

Certain land uses or activities within these areas may pose a risk to municipal drinking water sources and, as a result, Risk Management Plans or other risk management measures may be required under Section 34 of the Clean Water Act.

Property owners and affected stakeholders are encouraged to review the updated vulnerable area mapping and participate in the consultation process. Conservation Authorities will work with landowners to provide guidance, technical support, and assistance to help address any identified risks and meet regulatory requirements.
